Pagerwesi Day, symbol of firmness of faith

Pagerwesi

On Wednesday(21/3/2018) Balinese people held a Pagerwesi Ceremony, which is falls every Wednesday Kliwon wuku Sinta(twice a year). This event is celebrated to glorify Ida Sanghyang Widhi Wasa with his manifestations as Sanghyang Pramesti Guru (God as the teacher of the universe) and containing philosophy as a symbol of firmness of faith.

Pagerwesi derived from the word “Pager” (in Balinese means fence or protector), and Wesi which means iron. Iron fence has the meaning of an attitude of firmness of faith and science possessed by man, because without science human life will experience darkness (we called it, Awidya).

This feast is commemorated by performing prayers starting from Sanggah / Merajan (place of worship in the household environment) to other temples in the village and other Pura Kahyangan Jagat.
